John Muir Trail

It's nearly time to hit the trail! The John Muir Trail, that is. Laura Vandezande and I are leaving on August 3rd for the longest hike by far that I have ever done. At a scant 218.3 miles, we should be done in a mere (muir) 21 days. We have already planned our stops and purchased much of the fancy gear that we "need" to add to our existing arsenals of gear. Should you want to see pictures of a recent passerby through the JMT area, check out: http://pct2005.com.
Last longest hike: the Resurrection Pass trail of Alaska. As I can recall, the trip went like this: cabin, tent, cabin, cabin-cabin. it would have been a few days longer had the horrid bark beetle not downed a heap of trees over the first part of the trail, leading out of Exit Glacier. Still, we had Hope.

Joann,
I linked to your website as your Dad mentioned it an email. How exciting to mountain climbing at Yosemite. We hope to see the park on our next trip to California.
Take care. Lori, Bob and Mark Schmidt (Minnesota)
